Cleaning glass: instead of using paper towels, try using coffee filters. 1. they are cheaper than paper towels 2. they are a tighter weave so they don't leave as much lint as paper towels Hard water stains and soap scum you can use vinegar or lemon juice mixed with water in a spray bottle. They acid is a natural acid that will help eat through the nasties. You can use lemon oil to clean faucets, shower doors and the shower walls (don't use on the shower floor ) The lemon will help with water spots and soap scum and the oil will coat the surface to help prevent the future nasties Please add more tips |

dunno Dave
I was reading tips online and this is the funniest thing I have heard: Make your own furniture polish: Yucky but works, take a slab of spam and rub it on your wood -- wipe with pantyhose. Or, make a concoction of: 1 tsp olive oil, juice of a lemon, 1 tsp whisky or brandy, 1 tsp water. Mix together and rub on furniture with cloth, buff for a deep shine. |

Yeah the spam is just putting oil on the wood, wiping with pantyhose I think is just someone's fetish LOL. Olive Oil Lemon, and alcohol is pretty close to what's in furniture polish. I imagine the brandy will deepen the color of the wood a little as well. Some how I think a bottle of pledge is probably cheaper than that mixture of booze and food stuffs. |

But the mix is probably healthier. |

Cheap and effective...it even deodorizes (it only smells like pickles for a few hours.) Use it in a final rinse when cleaning carpets. Takes up the soap residue that will otherwise attract dirt right back. Once in a while, pour a gallon of white vinegar into a washer full of HOT water and let it wash/spin...cleans out the gunky build-up there. You can use it as a clarifying rinse after shampooing, too. How about this one for carpet stains...pet, vomit (sorry, but it happens) or beverage spills: If the stain is wet...fine...see below, If the stain is NOT wet, dampen it... Then sprinkle cheap ol' baking soda all over the wet spot. Give it a couple days to dry. It will draw the stain into the soda pile. Scrape off the crusty part and vacuum the rest. Fresh and clean! If it didn't all come up the first time, repeat. |

dont want to dishes for a while....my friend says,"put the dirty dishes in the oven , or refrig." Thats just plain laziness, I was taught clean as you go, especially in the kitchen, makes it easier afterwards for cleanup when you prepare a meal. |
