You guys do know that the Mayans didn't predict anything...Right? That's not exactly true. Their God Quetzacotal is supposed to return. This place is going to be hopping with Gods returning I guess. |

I feel they did....but it was not an end the world...sky is falling scenario... it was moreso about cosmic alignments...what is happening in the skies..however we egotstical all about us sods...had to make it all about us. They didn't predict those, they studied them and used equations to know where the stars would align and the moons movements. They were extremely intelligent people, but they were not fortune tellers by any means. I agree...my language may have failed me...however...by following a continual mathematical equation, for the purpose of understanding where stars and planets will align...is there not an element involved of 'prediction'? if I know 'this' always happens, by following 'this' and 'that', consistently....can I not 'predict' an outcome? |

Could be our understanding of the word 'prediction' failing both of us here. When I think of predictions, I think of Nostradamus...A mathmatical equation is the closest thing to fact that you can get through man, no matter what math is always constant, and therefore a 'fact.' In my opinion anyway. |

In my estimation, and based on my personal beliefs, there is no way the world can end in 2012. What i am about to say, are not direct quotes from the Bible, it is simply my interpretation/understanding which may not be entirely correct. First, the world will not end until the Bible is taught in every country. (derived from Matthew) I am not clear on how many countries that may leave. Second, The great tribulation. (derived from revelations) tells us that in this period, which will last for seven years (the number 7 is relevant, as is multiples of 12) The first three and a half years, will be bountiful (this is in the reign of the third antichrist) The second half of the seven, will be wars, and bloodshed as never seen. Third, all of the prophecies shall be fulfilled. If you believe in the Bible, then there is no way this can happen in the time frame. Nostradamus made over a thousand predictions in the quatrains. Over half of which have come to pass. "Out of the country of Greater Arabia Shall be born a strong master of Mohammed, He will enter Europe wearing a blue turban. He will be the terror of mankind. Never more horror." Now, there are photos of Obama floating around the internet, wearing a blue turban. This photo may be photo shopped, i'm not sure. Either way, i do not believe it is possible, within the time frame left, for those events to occur. I've only scratched the surface here, but i did not set out to write a novel or derail the thread. This is just a snippet of years of research. Well of course the photo is photo shopped. Do you know of any country where the Bible is not taught? Do you know any country where there is no Catholic church or catholic nuns doing their missionary work? And what exactly is "the great tribulation?" and how do you know we haven't been through that already? There is always bloodshed, some we don't even know about, and anyone who is a world leader who is not a real Christian can be considered an "anti-Christ." Its all in perception, interpretation, and belief. |

In my opinion anyway. I hear you....I use prediction as a word that gives a fairly solid outcome...with the potential for variables....for example...the weather is 'predicted'....based on limited variable information.. ocean swell is 'predicted' to be...between 2 and 3 metres... winds are predicted to reach 20 to 30 knots... that's how I hear the word predicted.. so yes, a difference in the understanding and use of the word.. |

"No man knoweth the hour; not even our Lord Jesus Christ". Anyone on here ever heard of the Bible? You'll find the answer in there. Or is this site for "Agnostics"? Really? You know what? Lots of people have read the Bible. The answer is not there. HOWEVER: There are CLUES. You have to see and be able to read the clues (signs) in real time as they relate to this age. (loose scriptural quote: "... when you see clouds gathering on the horizon, know that a storm is approaching..." (and that was Jesus' words). But then, you know the time is approaching by reading the signs. Look at what's going on now. |

I can just see Y2K all over again!! People will be hoarding water & supplies believing it's going to happen & they've figured out a way to survive!

The world isn't going to end, having food and water, etc. on hand is never a bad idea, no matter what's goin on.
Look at the tornados that just happened. Pretty sure the fine folks of Japan wished they had some food and water on hand and I'm not talking about the Pacific! |

well,
we might not be here. But the earth will continue on. |

I'll peacefully accept the end.
