You're absolutely right, I have run into plenty of people, of both genders, who are needy beyond belief. They're grueling to spend any time with because of their need for constant attention and reassurance. Don't get me wrong, I think most of us would like a little attention every now and then -- that's only normal, we're ostensibly "social creatures" and some degree of interaction with others can make life more interesting. On the other hand, to spend life as an adjunct to someone else is -- well, beyond my comprehension. I'd like to have someone in my life, but only if it's the right person and the right situation. Nothing (for me, anyway) is worse than being with someone and WISHING you were alone. |
