I did a really depressing thing today. First, I went to the Post Office to get my mail. I didn't realize they've stopped Saturday window service. Then I did something even more depressing. The next Park requires me to have a pair of work boots. I decided to see what (ugh) Walmart had to offer. Damn! Their prices are low! You really can't blame people for shopping there. I despise the idea of my money going straight to Bentonville Arkansas, especially knowing where their profits are coming from.

ON THE OTHER HAND The National Association of Business Economists are forecasting continued improvement in the economy with an expected 2% growth in the coming year. Intentions to hire are growing.

Republicans destroy. Democrats build. This is the last thing Republicans want to see right now. It could destroy dreams of scuttling the Obama presidency.

They haven't stopped Saturday window service everywhere. Just in a few select PO's that weren't generating revenue.

The National Socialist German Workers Party built the Autobahn.

They also built the V-1 and V-2 rockets.

They also built the ME 262

They were great at building stuff.. But when you look at the cost to their people was all the nice stuff really worth the price?

$100 trillion in unfunded liabilities is what you help build..

We will see how that goes down in history.

In my life I expect good times, better health and abundance in my future. I shall also meet a handsome man who will worship the ground I walk on.

so be it, so it is. tongue2

I'm a big fan of the Postal Service, but I fear that it is, indeed, obsolete. The first class mail business cannot compete with electronic communications. They are making a valiant effort with the parcel business, and I think that the service has a lot of merit. I'm not sure their efforts can be enough to keep the service alive.

Yes, and how rare and special it (would be) is to actually receive a hand written letter from someone. wow

When is the last time you got one? I can't remember.

Little first-class letters may become obsolete, but the USPS still beats everyone else hands down when it comes to packages. Not anything large mind you, but if it's small and doesn't weigh much... USPS is the cheapest alternative. I work for myself and ship packages 3-6 days a week.

Good on you. UPS has had a business advantage over USPS because they are set up to cater to the shipper, who pays the freight. USPS caters to the receiver.

I had a hobby that had me receiving quite a few parcels. Given the option, I always requested them to be shipped via USPS. I could always rely of 2-day delivery for priority shipping. Higher fee was peanuts. With UPS, I never knew when they would come. If they missed me, and it needed a signature, I could look forward to a long drive to pick it up.

Don't worry the idea of some sort charge for email has been discussed. I'm sure we'll see something where we get charged for sending email, especially with the "Do not Track" BS going on.
