A recovery disk will merely create a disk that can restore your computer to defaults, generally factory defaults. This will consist of operating system components, drivers... etc that originally came with the computer. Personal files and such would need to be backed up if you ever tried a recovery from scratch, as they would be deleted in the process.
I would highly recommend getting a cd or dvd burner. You can get fairly cheap ones now-a-days. Saving all that information to floppies is not only time consuming, but could take a lot of space (read a lot of disks). In the end going out and buying a 50 dollar external cd burner would be more cost effective because you can put a lot more on a CD. Just my 2 cents... |

I also recommend getting a burner, external hard drive, or just a flash drive depending on your needs. There's lots of free programs on the net that you can use to make backups of your device drivers, programs, registry, etc. Unless you are trying to make a disk that would fresh-install the operating system (I'm guessing Windows). Unfortunatly, there is no option in Windows to make such a disk that I'm aware of. You need the original install disc first and then make sure you have access to all of the device drivers before you attempt the OS, as they are lost when you do a fresh install and some parts of your computer (like internet connection) may not work until you have the correct drivers installed!!
