Hey, so I'm new here and I just discovered the poetry section so I'm excited now. I've written many poems and this is one of them. Just so you know, my poetry can be long, sometimes going for pages at a time, so I hope that isn't a turn off. Please, if you like my work, let me know as I continue posting more.

To Keep You Confined

I've imagined a way to keep you confined,
And I'll work years if I can trap you in a rhyme,
I'll buy a home and have you on a leash in our backyard,
I'll walk on alone until I figure out where to go, and how far.

You stuck needles in my skin, threw darkness in my soul,
Another piece of my heart is now gone because of you.
You forced guilt unto my name and squeezed blood from my veins,
It all came out black and blue, because of you.
But I've considered a way to keep you confined,
I'll work forever to trap you in my rhymes,
And I'll tether you to a pole in our front yard,
'Til you're weak and begging, "Let me go away so far."

I'll let you go, I'll let you go.
If you come with me.
I'll let you go, I'll let you go.
If you venture into the world with me.

I've learned my lesson in brokenness complete,
I'll pack my bags, when we're obsolete.
For far too long you've ignored and shunned me,
But as I leave I have dreams of you within me...

We hung sentimental electricity out on a wire,
That chemical reaction between us labeled us liars,
So I've become an expert sad crier,
But I begged you not to put me out on a wire...

You did it anyway.

And you stabbed knives in my skin, flung sadness in my soul,
You used lemon juice to blind me, and gave me a heavy toll,
I've only just begun to pay.
And I've dreamt I had you imprisoned,
I'll tell it to you if you'll only listen,
You put me down but I'm rising, I'm risen,
I'll tell you my dream if you'll only listen,
If you'd only listen for once.

I'll keep you close, I'll keep you close,
If you promise to never leave me.
I'll hold you close, I'll hold you close,
If you explore this world with me.

I want to realize my dream and bound you solid,
Make you live in my house 'til your face is pallid,
We'll be the best of friends again,
I want to confine you to my backyard.

So come see,
This world with me.

Very nice...this stanza in particular

We hung sentimental electricity out on a wire,
That chemical reaction between us labeled us liars,
So I've become an expert sad crier,
But I begged you not to put me out on a wire...

Thanks very much. I'm glad you liked it. And yes, that is probably my favorite part of the poem...
