introducing myself..im julie.
enough about that. I am a movie buff. In era pieces the men would always wear hats. usually bowlers, derbys, top hats even stove pipes, cowboy hats and berets. but to me the most sexiest and so amazingly masculine was the fedora. When i go into a restaurant today, (not even an A place) when I sit down, I notice that baseball caps are the favorites. Men do not remove their caps at a restaurant. It makes me dishearted. I recenty went to a funeral, and again the baseball caps were not removed. I so much wanted to say something but alas I remained silent. Perhaps I should be from a different era. but I wish I could see a mans head without their head mask. I think it is so sexy and classy seeing a man remove his "hat" when entering a dwelling. i suppose I am saying to all you guys...enough with the effing baseball caps. |

We wear baseball caps when we're too lazy to fix our hair or don't have time. Personally I can rock a fedora but never wear one out in public simply because that era has long passed (I only use it with a Halloween costume).
Plus, there is nothing sexy about hat hair, which is why we keep them on. Funny thing is, when I clicked on this thread there was an ad below advertising hats. Go Google Ad Words! |

Actually, I want to get a fedora because I am a big Indiana Jones fan. I always loved the hat he wore.
And Aries is right. We do keep our hats on for that reason. Our society has become so image-conscious that men are almost as equally affected as women now. It really needs to stop. However, in between your words, Julie, you bring up an interesting point....though you might not have realized it. You see, older style hats fit differently than current men's hats. They tended to rest higher on the head with room above the top of the head. That means that "hat-head" was much less common, especially when hair was kept neatly trimmed. I prefer a short hairstyle for this very reason, but sometimes I may have to go weeks before being able to get a haircut because of my schedule. (Most shops aren't open on Sunday or Monday around here.) Still, I really need to get that hat....it also fits with the style of jackets I like to wear. |
