SALEM – A man with crooked teeth robbed a Salem Walmart at gunpoint while chatting on his cell phone last weekend, according to police, who said the suspect was still on the loose.

The suspect displayed a handgun to a clerk while demanding cash and then escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. No one was injured.

The robbery occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday, at the Walmart at 5250 Commercial St SE. A surveillance camera caught video as the suspect was leaving the store, still on his cell phone.

The suspect was described as a white man in his mid-20's, standing about 5'9" tall with a thin to medium build, blue eyes and crooked teeth, according to police. He was wearing a white hoody, a black Adidas athletic jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, slightly baggy blue jeans, and light colored tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on the robbery was urged to call Detective Mike Quakenbush at (503) 540-2352.

The clerk should have declined to give him the money because this idiot may have used his cell phone to call the police...you never with stupid people.
