I just don't think that average, ordinary people are competent to administer the death penalty. I especially don't think that Texas or Oklahoma should be allowed to have the death penalty.

There are automatic appeals that are looked at by judges.

If there were no appeals process then I can understand your point.

But...

The court process in whole is a lengthy process, it is not as though these people are thrown in jail and then executed. they are sitting around for years, doing appeal after appeal, or some just sitting around.

The couple who kidnapped Jaycee dugard--they should be killed...even though she did not die, but bear children from that sicko---and lost her entire childhood and probably mentally phuqued the rest of her life...that warrants a death penalty in my opinion.

It might be worth Googling a question. "Do executions make victim's families feel better?" You get some surprising opinions.

Who cares... if the person will kill again, then he needs to die...why should we pay for their life sentence?

Agreed!

IF the person is going to kill again, i believe it is our duty to stop them.... think about this situation

You have a guy/girl wielding a gun in a class room, already shot one person...you are in the hall, you have a gun, you are PRETTY sure he is going to shoot another person...however you yourself are in NO danger...do you shoot the guy? or do you wrestle him to the ground, take away his gun, and lock him in the Janitor closet for the rest of his life..but here's the catch...if you lock in him in the janitor closet YOU are responsible for feeding him, clothing him, oh and btw YOU need to pay for him to get a degree....

basically that is our prison system in a nutshell..i'd rather shoot him

I might agree with you if I had been on that jury, but I wasn't. It's no skin off my nose if they spend the rest of their lives in a 4X8 cell getting raped in the shower every night.

true good point..Im all for torturing people the way their victims were. Or we could get turkish crazy and just cut off the legs of all the odious pricks who think they can habitually rob and rape and steal. Or go clockwork orange on them and just make them watch their heinous crime, except edit it with the perps face on the victims body and just having that streaming 24 hours a day in their cell and dont let them leave their cells ever...just let them go mad crazy...

the only bad thing is we are paying for it... them and millions of others that really have no right to be in public again...

Yes, I believe in the death penalty. Life is full of choices..some make choices to sell drugs, rape and kill. They have no thought of their victims. Why should we cry when these people get caught and have to pay for their actions? There is also a saying from the Bible.....An eye for a eye.

Ezekiel (33:11): "As I live, says the Lord God, I swear I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, but rather in the wicked man's conversion, that he may live."

I only point out this verse to show that using specific Bible verses is not a good way to make an argument on any subject. Make an argument by use of verse A and I can make a counter-argument using verse B.

It is very easy to find a passage that supports your point of view. Then you can say,"There! I found it. It's in the Bible, so it is so." This allows you to stop considering anything else to the contrary - instead of looking at different points of view and other evidence to come to an informed opinion.

I have my own opinion on the subject, but that is not the point I am trying to make. Besides, I have never ever seen anyone switch sides during the course of a death penalty argument. It just doesn't happen.

We kill mad/sensless animals. Many of the criminals out here, will free only losing their life. Thus a death sentence carried out, CAN work better than a life in jail sentence. Besides, WHY should tax payers have to pay to keep those with a life/death sentence?
Show me anytime in history where a few have not suffered for the benefit of the whole. A "USED" death penalty,is something I support. Always have & always will.
