AMHERST COUNTY, Virginia - A Virginia woman has a baby monkey and instead of leaving her home alone, she carries her around in her bra.

The woman, Donna Bruce, went to the Amherst County Courthouse for a hearing in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations division on March 10.

Bruce mentioned her daughter to a courthouse employee while she was filing out paperwork. The employee asked where her daughter was, and Bruce pulled the monkey out of her bra.

The monkey, named Cara, is 7 weeks old and weighs only 2.5 pounds.

"She's a 7-week-old baby," Bruce said. "You can't leave a 7-week-old baby at home."

When asked how a baby monkey gets past security at a county courthouse, a guard jokinly said "she wasn't armed."
