I like the things they have to say (except the part about patents)
The party strives to increase government transparency, promote personal privacy, reinforce the spread of knowledge through copyright reform, and abolish patents.

"We live in a country founded on the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," the Massachusetts Pirate Party said in a statement. "For many people, those ideals are not real. The Supreme Court and Congress have expanded the power of corporations and made them more powerful than people. Increasingly government officials ignore open meeting laws, make deals favorable to corporations behind closed doors and sell off our public information to private interests."

No copyright? Hmmmm.... the others sound fine, but I foresee us becoming more lazy if you can just copy any piece of work and call it your own.

Well, patents is quite a topic. In My Opinion, one of the major reasons for the high cost of health care is the ridiculously generous patent protection that Congress grants to the Pharmaceutical industry. I really don't know much about copywrite issues.

As an amature inventor I can tell you the Patent Process vavors Corporations...

It takes 3 to 7 years (and a boatload of cash) to pursue a patent...

But if you publish your work in ANY public venue before you get said patent it is only protected for 1 year... Corporations simply wait one year and 'slam' the patent through with a lawyer on staff.
