Crisp cookies from Germany

2/3 cup Molasses - heat to boiling, Pour over 1/3 cup shortening - stir until shortening melts.
Mix and sift together:
2 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ginger
Add sifted flour mixture to molasses mixture. Stir until well blended. Wrap dough in wax paper and chill about 1 hour.
Roll out in small portions at a time 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board.
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
Makes about 30-4 dozen cookies.

Sounds like ginger snaps to me but I don't know how to make ginger snaps either.flowerforyou

Don't forget to grease the cookie sheet.
They do kind of remind you a little of ginger snaps.
I personaly wouldn't bake any more than the 8 minutes.

If you cook them ten minutes do they turn into Viking Shields?:tongue:
