Why is there an expectation of others to support us in the first place?

Do we do something special to get something from someone else?

SO there's an agenda attached to what special thing is done?

No expectations , no disappointments.

Do what you do, for you...NEVER for the glory from others.

I never do anything with an expectation of something back from someone else..I would be a complete selfish git, to do that!

I do what I do...and enjoy what I do...for the simple pleasure of doing it...selfish?...you betcha!...laugh

Of course we should do what we enjoy most without expecting anything from others. But in general to begin some new venture, to carry out some of your goal you need some support either mental or physical; at least this will strengthen you to continue. Mental strength varies from person to person.glasses

In general?

How do you know this?

I disagree...I believe we do what we do, whatever the venture...for ourselves...to carry out some of,or any goal, does NOT require support from others...

it sounds the NEED for validation over rides the venture.

Mental strength is available to every single sentient being...it's choosing NOT to take on board the lack or content of support from others...external existance is the weakness of many a poor soul...an internal existance is available to all..

I do what I do, when I want to do it, irrespective of who says I can, or cannot...I couldn't give a **** about pleasing the masses...my validation comes from me.

"to your call, move alone" this is the meaning of a song composed by "Tagore", a Nobel prize winner for his collection "Gitanjali".
Sometimes we try to do something special/great and often we don't get support from others; but we should not stop rather we should continue.

You must be talking about Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ashe or Ekla Cholo Re, as it is sometimes called when it is shortened.

(English Translation)
If they answer not to thy call walk alone,
If they are afraid and cower mutely facing the wall,
O thou unlucky one,
open thy mind and speak out alone.

If they turn away, and desert you when crossing the wilderness,
O thou unlucky one,
trample the thorns under thy tread,
and along the blood-lined track travel alone.

If they do not hold up the light when the night is troubled with storm,
O thou unlucky one,
with the thunder flame of pain ignite thy own heart
and let it burn alone.

Let me digress for a moment by saying that the song is often quoted in the context of political or social change movements. Mahatma Gandhi cited it as one his favorite songs. This actually carries a theme of quiet but courageous resistance that resonated deeply within the struggle for Indian independence, which I think was also reflected in another of Tagore’s work in the rhetoric of Jawaharlarl Nehru, whose “Tryst with Destiny” inaugural address described the unfinished business of building an Indian state as a labor of love.

Yes it is on "Ekla cholo re" and thanks for all of these information.
Your view please on doing alone in case of no support from others.

Yes, I have felt this way all my life. I have never had support from family or friends when I try new things or accomplish anything. Guess everyone is to caught up in their own life to care.

We all are not fortunate enough to get support from others;it certainly needs mental toughness to follow our own path.

This is true. Just because I never got support; it never stopped me from stepping outside the box and doing my own thing. I guess I should thank the military for teaching me that lesson.

Wow...

Sorry...

I have always been fortunate enough to have had my small family and small circle of friends support whatever insanity I pursue....I have always felt bad for those who haven't had the same kind of support....

But even the support I get is cause I will push the issue...."Back me up or be on your way"

Personal ambition, drive, motivation and determination don't actually require any one else's blessings.

I am where I am because it is what I chose for myself....if people want to apprecieate me for it...fine....it is something I wanted for myself and took it by the throat...I asked for no ones blessings.

The people who don't apprecieate what I have gone through to be where I am at are not my concern...they are always unhappy and unsatisfied with themselves...I can't fix that for them.

Well, you are indeed fortunate to have had support. Eventhough I haven't; it never dampened my spirits to go forth and try new things. As you stated personal abmition doesn't require support and I am one mighty ambitious gal. happy
