As with Genesis I have a different view of what the meaning behind Revelations is.

If one simply reads it and does not 'overlay' it with 'magic' and 'wonder'...

Revelations is simply a warning that one day the earth will fall into the sun or the sun will expand and consume the earth.

and anyone that is still upon the earth when that happens will need to be rescued.

Science backs that up... Without a doubt the earth will one day fall victim to our sun.

So it would be in our best interests to move on... Allowing only a small number to live on the earth (which would make it easier to rescue them).

There is a reference to the meek inheriting the earth. Fire from the sky could be Thermonukes. Revelations is too self prophetic for me to take too seriously. Now for the meek to inherit anything that implies a planet left to inhabit. When the sun dies it is game over for the planet.

Likewise the bible was written at a time when it was assumed the Earth was the center of the universe. The writers of the bible had no idea of the scope or scale of earth in the solar system at the time. To them the sun was just a bright phenomenon in the sky that could not have been very large.

It all seems to coincide with a historical pattern of mankind achieving greater power and screwing up with it!

"fire from the sky" Could also be Coronal Mass Ejections of massive proportions.

General Science was not aware of the true nature of the universe at that time, this is correct.

However from many diferent writings it is clear that SOME people were.

Islam...

'in the heavens I have placed a Light of Splendor'... The sun.

People continously read so much more into scripture than is actually present.

In truth our ancestors were in touch with an intelligence greater then themselves, indeed greater then are we.

It is a shame that people must twist that knowledge into magic and mayhem when it can be applied directly to our current understanding of science and the universe as it is with but a little though and a small prayer.

The Universe. The Milky way. is that not mans take on the Universe?

How can we know we are not the center of Everything?

Rev 21:1-3

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of Yahweh is with men,
