All I know is the remakes of Halloween rocked!

I wish i could say the same about Nightmare and Friday

Wow, someone who recognizes quality.

I wish they had done better in the theaters, but everybody **** on the remakes b/c they were so loyal to that moron John Carpenter.

The original Halloween came out on the brink of the 'slasher' era, so everyone thinks Carpenter is a God. Nevermind that the do*chebag didn't have a lick of sense for continuity or editing. I sat through the original and felt like my soul was being sucked out. I haven't seen a film he directed or wrote that I actually liked.

Whether you like Carpenter or his Halloween or not doesn't change the fact that his film laid the template for the modern slasher film. Without Halloween there wouldn't have been a slasher boom in the late 70's and early 80's. There wouldn't have been a Friday The 13th(even Sean S Cunningham admits they created Friday The 13th to cash in on Halloween's success), and Zombie remade Halloween because he considers the original one of his favorite horror films. Zombie has nothing but praise for the original.

That might be true, but Zombie also corrected all of the mistakes and plot holes from the original. He might believe the original was a classic, but he had the brains to know when mistakes were made. Besides, you don't believe every piece of PR garbage you hear do you? It's just good publicity to compliment the original, so your remake doesn't get **** on by the fans.

After the 70s exploitation horror, people were looking for something different. There had already been a few 'slasher' type films already made, but the demand for something new was at it's peak when Halloween came out. I know the 'slasher' era would have come with or without that boring 2-hour strangle-fest. I refuse to give the title to such a crappy movie, even if everyone else does.

Zombie has been praising Halloween long before he made movies.

This argument will just go in circles, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

I believe Torgo has not breached any prescribed etiquette, Shayna. Implied or otherwise.

I was trying to be funny, but I guess I failed. (plays Queen, "Another One Bites The Dust")

I have thought that as a distinct possibility, but I chose to let you clarify it at your convenience and just accepted the context of your post in the spirit in which it was initially perceived. :)

Nice background music though.

Well, I haven't seen all the movies of the series but of the movies I have seen (can't believe how many movies we are talking about in just 3 series) my favorite by far is: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Dream Warrior.

Loved how the kid figured out how to fight Freddie in the dream world because it is a dream world.

I just thought of something.

Freddie kills in dreams and pretty much runs the dream world.

If a superhero ends up with Freddie in his/her dream, who would have the power?

Superman is pretty much invulnerable. Obviously Freddie could conjure up kryptonite whenever he chose. Would Superman be able to take over control of the dream and prevent Freddie from doing that?

I guess the question is, would Freddie be able to remove his/her super powers in a dream?

I remember a comic where superman was being attacked in his mind. He said he was holding back. He finally said he would let the bad guy get the full force of his anger. Next scene there was a physical explosion that everyone saw but no physical damage was visible. So, he has a LOT of mental power as well. But then again, so does Freddie so... The question remains...
