Just watched The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz.
I really loved it. By the time the credits rolled I was unaware of the giant smile on my face. Kate Winslet's character, Iris, had some really great lines about emotional depth of loving someone who won't love you back. I just wanted to kiss Jack Black right through the screen. Did I mention that I loved it? As I didn't dig deep enough for a post of it, I think it would be great if we listed a CHICK FLICK and why we love it. Shayna the Movie Nut. |

Thelma and Louise.
Three words: Young Brad Pit Heh, seriously though, this movie was awesome. It's rare that you find a chick flick with a decent action element (exploding tanker truck?!) And it brings back a lot of memories of college for me. The roomies and I started planning a road trip after watching it. We never quite got around to it, but we all agreed that it would be ok to pick up cute hitch hikers that looked like brad pit, as long as we didn't leave him alone with the money. |

JAWS!!! Don't know what this has to do with anything but it is in fact, the greatest film ever made. |

JAWS!!! Don't know what this has to do with anything but it is in fact, the greatest film ever made. This is about 'Chick Flicks', not 'Chicks getting turned into Fishsticks'. As for JAWS, I would love to burst your bubble on that. The opening scenes are really great. HOWEVER, The kill scene in the end is total bullsh*t. Its scientifically impossible, and when they told Steven Spielberg that, he said, "The audience will believe what I want them to believe." He was right and he might be able to make a class- A film, but he is a Class-A tool. |

Show me any adventure movie ( or any movie period ) that is 100% factual and realistic and I'll show you Jesus Christ! I know many chicks who dig this movie, any movie can be a chick flick if chicks like it. |

I know many chicks who dig this movie, any movie can be a chick flick if chicks like it. Man on Fire with Denzel Washington. Based on a True Story. Chick Flick by definition is a movie that has a lead feminine characters that the audience can associate with. It contains either or all of the following criteria: Drama, romance, somewhat funny, and ends happily. The last, and final, factor is that guys don't generally like the films, unless of course they are a card carrying member of the Judy Garland club. EXAMPLE: My ex-husband, who is a transvestite now, watched 'Shall We Dance' with me. By the end of the film, he started yelling at Richard Gere that he was setting the standards too damn high. I will never go see a 'Chick Flick' with a guy again. |

More like "possibly inspired by true events", but you can't go by the 2004 film since it made multiple changes to the original 1981 novel by AJ Quinnell. |

Of course movies are made up and exaggerate the truth, but it does get annoying when they over do it sometimes.
Some chick flicks you might enjoy are The Bounty Hunter Pink Cadillac - Not exactly a chick flick, but similar to The Bounty Hunter ... There's more, but can't think of them right now... |

I don't know if these count, but I enjoy the Rock Hudson Doris Day movies- Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back, Send Me No Flowers.

I actually enjoy an occasional chick flick. I have even been known to tear up from time to time. One in particular that I remember is Men Don't Leave. I liked the soundtrack, Jessica Lange was wonderful, and I fell in love with every actor. I think it was Chris O'Donnell's first appearance. I haven't liked him in anything I've seen since.
