I know that most of us are really tired of the cold, the ice, snow...etc, and all are really looking forward to Spring. I am just as tired of this as the next person, but realized today, that not only does this country need a new awakening...it needs a bit of peace right now. Seems to me that during the past few days, there has been a tremendous decrease in the crime rate in our area. I am going to enjoy the peace and quiet and wait for spring to show up and make everything a little prettierbigsmile

I'm glad you can see the positive side of it all. I'm getting cabin fever and have missed 2 days of work. Will probably miss work again today. They simply do not sand or salt the smaller roads in the burbs here, nor have they done so to the major arteries. I turned tail home yesterday. It's also unprecedented that they have closed schools 3 days in a row here. Wonder if it will be 4 days. And, I'm in Texas, near Dallas. So this has been quite unusual. I think it's been since 1988 that we had this much ice that won't go away...

I hope you have a great day!!

I live in a heavy populated tourist area in the summer mostly. I love the quiet and solitude of the winter months. Everything slows down a bit, summer will be here soon enough and back to working three jobs. The news is all about the weather and not crime, I like that.

We have been shut down through all of this too and I have been just as down as the next person....but this morning I decided that the only way to get through this and maintain some sort of sanity, is to look at the good side of all of this. I live about 40 minutes from Indy and last week there were 4 people shot within 5 days, one a police officer and three teenagers, all in seperate incidents....and I must agree with Catgo65....nice to hear about something other than hatred and death

There is no crime rate in my neighborhood.

My pipes and/or water tank is frozen, despite the fact that I left a faucet on and there is a heater in the well-house.

My septic also need immediate work but no one can come because of the weather.

Peace? Nope!

It's cold, I fail to see anything good about it...and it is snowing, again, and again, I fail to see anything good about it.

Sorry, Kim, but your argument is invalid.tongue2

We had three feet of snow on the ground and another foot plus fell yesterday. It is piled every where. Today was beautiful, I helped a friend shovel her long driveway, took a walk and a bunch of pictures. I figure since we can't change the weather try to make the most of it. I had the most amazing drifts, all curved ridges, I was hoping to get better shots of them today but this morning they were all but gone.

It's beautiful and quiet. Enjoyed the muted sounds when I went for a walk in the woods. Ready for spring and the warmer temps though.

I treated my unemployed self to lunch today during an almost two hour walk. The sun on the snow (mountains of snow) and on the water was just beautiful. Walking was a bit challenging at times but the huge chunks of fallen icicles reminded me that I needed to be looking up as well as down!

More snow due tomorrow but I really think we have enough!

Had to make sure my heater vent wasn't blocked, climbed a 8-9 foot plow bank to get to it. Thought to come back in via my back yard, NO way. The plow bank is pretty packed but the 6 foot drift wanted to eat me alive! Oh just to clarify, the plow bank is on my front yard, not along the road. We have to much snow to just have roads banks, they plow it right onto your yard! Now that is snow!!!

My water tank defrosted as soon as I cranked up the heater in the well-house and my septic was pumped today.

Now, if I hadn't put off grading papers in the two days I regularly have off during the week and the two snow days, I would be perfectly happy!

But I am now "good." (Grin.)

Personally, I just want to spend some time outside being active rather than freezing and having to watch out for cars on snow-narrowed roads. The snow from the first storm has yet to melt, and now there's a new storm on the way. whoa

On the positive side, I do have fun driving in the snow. My cars handle great in the stuff, and I've been driving in snow since I was a student driver. I've never had an accident because of snow or ice, and I've only been stuck once because of ice when my 4WD wasn't working.
