yea, i dont let people shuffle or touch my cards overly much. they can pick which card to begin the reading but otherwise I don't want their vibe interrupting the flow between me and my deck.

That is a very interesting concept, about your mums friend using them for thereapy I never thought of using em for that. Learn something everyday. And thats probably for the best, that way you arnt like the rest of us irritated and waiting for the last one hahah. His books are rather depressing though heh, two people that are going to depress you in his series is ; Toc the younger, and Coltaine. Youll learn about em in I wanna say the 4th book. Yeah I thought it was cool too. Thanks for the info! I love an author one gets emotionally involved in! |

I'm not so hardcore about things being touched, but I don't particularly like it, and usually do end up saging them clean.
I never paid attention to quite how much detail could be involved Andy. Thanks for the info. |

thats the thing, its all in the small details. ;-)
ever looked at your favorite card and seen something youve never seen before, tarot are meant to reflect your soul / mind depending on your beliefs about em. ;-) Erikson will get you involved, I can recommend no other author higher than him. even another persons vibe can effect the reading, like say a non believer tends to cause the reading to go astray, not because of their beliefs imo, but because their vibe effects yours thus making you nervous or some such thing and you arnt as focused on the reading itself. |

Many times the intent of the card is misread. Example, the Death card showing up in the destiny slot. We all will indeed die some day. But the death card reflects change. It is the end of something. It does not mean someone is going to die necessarily.
The emperor or Empress can likewise be both a Good thing and Bad thing. Both are dominating influences but again there is a difference between a dominate trait the cards recognize vs. a dominating personality in your life. I have seen cards with a dragon on them and have been told they mean they symbolize struggle but not necessarily a fight. Likewise the Sun and Moon cards can have a host of meanings. With that in mind how does one properly interpret the cards? Well, that must come with practice now! That and a sense for what the cards say since like a dream what the cards say is through interpretation! And in understanding there is light in the darkness! |

I have some questions about Tarot Readings. I bought my first tarot deck this weekend (Rider-Waite). I've been using it a bit, and I really enjoy it. Plus the cards are interesting to look at.
1)It calls for a significator(sp?) card which should represent the asker. I was doing these readings for myself. I just don't really understand how to pick this card. I chose the 4 of cups, because I feel like i'm at a personal crossroads, and I don't like my choices. Should I use this all the time? What significance does this card have, b/c it isn't used in the actual reading? 2)In your experience, how literal should we take the readings? 3)How should I interpret a card that doesn't really make sense in the context it's put into? Thanks. |

Thanks. 3. All cards can be interpreted into a context, sometimes it just make sense at the time. sorta like when you absolutely adore someone, then you have a falling out and you notice all of their failings =D its all on intuition. dont always accept the books meaning of the card so to speak. 2. Depends on the vibe, some people use it as a guide, some as a specific question, i just use the cards for hints about whats next. so i can better prepare for them. So id say i take em on a 7 out of 10 litteral basis, unless the vibes strong. In which case I trust my vibes and the cards like if it gives me the 7 of swords for a new girl in my life ima take the hint and back up. haha. 1. The personal card so to speak is more just so you have a focus of who you are, you can use it in every reading none of the readings, even have it in the spread but never flip it. So symbolically you start and end the spread without actually being in it. Make sense? The personal card is just to help you find you. ;-P ____ IMO. |

The hanged man is my favorite card and that card is often skewed by most people especially in my deck. haha. |

What significance does this card have, b/c it isn't used in the actual reading? Sometimes a significator card picks you. But that card should probably be one of the cards that represent a person. For example, the queen of cups, or the emperor, or the King of swords etc. The four of cups would not be a significator card. I would not pick a permanent sigificator card. Some days you are feeling like the Queen of wands and other days you are more like the Queen of swords. 2)In your experience, how literal should we take the readings? If you don't understand it, don't worry about it. You may not be having any important questions or issues and the cards seem to mean nothing to you. On the other hand if a card keeps coming up day after day, you need to figure out what that means for you. It may not go away until you do. 3)How should I interpret a card that doesn't really make sense in the context it's put into? Look at, study and describe the picture. If the regular card meaning does not make any sense, go with the picture. |
