I was lucky that I got custody of my kid, as the courts here in the UK agreed he was better off with me than his cokehead mum! I see it all the time with my mates though, that they break up with their kids mum and the mother uses the kids as a weapon, to get back at the father? Totally out of order! Some women just judge and say 'Oh, he doesn't want to see his kids. The bastard!' In some cases that can be true, but sometimes the dad DOES want to see his kids, but it's the mother, that's putting the blockers on it! Totally out of order and it's the kids that the mother is hurting too, not just the father!
