Topic: Kentucky lawmaker introduces welfare brat drug testing bill | |
---|---|
I've been on food stamps from time to time and you can buy chips with food stamp, its stuff like soda, party likker, candy that you cannot buy with food stamps. If somebody wants to buy their kids or them self chips that's fine but I also believe that a drug screen should be given in order to receive the handout. |

I don't want anyone in my state to be hungry or in need of medical care regardless of there situation. The reason the government is doing this is to try to save money at the poors expense because of the budget. The state is broke. Pick on the weak kid. Believe me it will backfire. Wait till the boys start rolling out of the mountains...........

I say let Kentuckians pay for their hatred.
There are ways around the drug tests so they will be wasting their money. It should cost people who hate their poor so much that they believe they are all druggies. So I am all for it. All the druggie folks have to do is look up the stuff that makes them have a clean urine the day they go in to apply. ![]() |

The olympic committee must hate the athletes, professional sports organizations must hate their employees, etc because they do drug tests too. There is no hate to make sure your state funds are being used correctly. Not all poor people use drugs but many drug users are poor because they spend all their money to feed their addiction. They don't deserve tax dollars. |

Every state in the union should have this law on the books and enforce it. In a bill filed this week in the Kentucky House, people receiving public assistance like food stamps would have to be drug tested prior to receiving help. The bill was filed by both Republicans and Democrats, and Republican Rep. Jim DeCesare says he will vote for it if it comes to the House floor. "It's important that we make sure that people who are getting special assistance from the state aren't using those funds that they're getting to purchase and buy drugs instead of food and other things they need for their families," said Rep. DeCesare. The bill would cover anyone receiving public assistance including monetary assistance, food stamps, or medical assistance. After the initial drug test, they must pass a new one every year. Bowling Green grocery store cashier Janice Hood checks out a lot of people with food stamps and says she agrees with the bill. "They're obviously hopped up or they're buying candy and potato chips with the food stamps that my tax dollars help pay for and like i said, if I've got to get drug tested for my job, I feel like folks should have to get drug tested for their benefits," said Hood. Positive drug test results will not be given to police. "There are no criminal punishments but they can lose their assistance if they do test positive," added Rep. DeCesare. He says the money should be used for its intended purpose. "We want them to use that money for the things they need to survive. Drugs are not needed to survive," said Rep. DeCesare. A statement Janice Hood certainly agrees with. She said "I don't think it's fair for the public to have to pay for their habits." This kind of bill has come up before and not made it through. If anyone refuses a drug test, they are immediately ineligible for any kind of government assistance. ![]() |

That's why we have jails! We already take care of their kids so that's no biggie. Who the hell are we? You don't live in Kentucky. The state sure as hell don't take care of kids around here....... ![]() Again I'm with you. Why do others worry what happens in a state they don't live in. Vote to **** your own poor and starve their children. There are better ways to handle this problem than stereotyping everyone who asks for help as a drug user and punishing their innocent children.. It is not an unreasonable request to ask that those receiving handouts whoever they are to submit a drug test. If a person doesn't use drugs they have nothing to worry about and if they do use drugs its time to get a job. oh wait, jobs often times require a drug test before hiring...wah wah wahahahahah LMAO The only drug that stays in a persons system long enough to prevent them from getting a job is Marijuana. A harmless drug which does nothing to prevent that person from performing their job or anything else. Testing positive for marijuana doesn't prove the person uses on the job either, as it can stay in their system for up to 30 days. Cocaine and other drugs only stay in a persons system for 48 to 72 hrs. Why should a person be denied unemployment for testing positive for THC? Esp since alcohol is a far greater evil and dangerous drug? |

Hair folicle screening goes back 90 days standardized but can go back further depending on how close to the scalp you cut it and it covers all of these dating back 90 days: Cocaine (Cocaine & Benzoylecgonine), Marijuana, Opiates (Codeine, Morphine & 6-Monacteyl Morphine), Methamphetamine (Methamphetamine/Amphetamine & Ecstasy), and Phencyclidine (PCP). |

And Alcohol does more harm to families and job production than any drug. I know plenty of functional alcoholics but not many functional hard drug users. |
