Sometimes they have merit... Like if you get your belly wet while washing dishes...You may be having a baby. My theory on that one is you are pregnant and your belly is bigger, you have to stand further away...so figures it would get it wet.

good girl, don't place cold things outside your body to cool down, maybe eat some ice cream, or ice chips. just be careful that the fever doesn't go any higher
