I wonder if it would be possible to capture some of the antimatter being (or so it has been written) ejected from terrestrial storms.

Such 'antimatter' is apparently being ejected in 'streams' from earthly storms into space.

So close...

Why not get some.

elaborate i'm interested...and what would you do with it? or suggest doing?

I am not sure where the information orginated from.

I saw it when I was looking up something else on a yahoo link and just clicked on, read, and clicked off.

If it is actually streaming from earthly lightning into space I would find out what caused it to do so and figure out how to duplicate the process. (or figure out how to 'mine' it).

Energy problem might be a small use.

Space travel might become more easily accomplished.

link was titled 'antimatter storms'.

more likely a weapon... but space travel would be cool!

Can you imagine what Antimatter excitment would do to a pulsed Ion or Plasma thruster...?

Would possibly eliminate the need for large heavy energy source.

I would say it should be understood before it is implemented, but that may be asking too much of this technological era

ion pulse is the in thing now, but it is not even close to the speed we need... just more economical than anything else at the moment

Speed is relative to the amount of time you apply thrust.

If you could simply apply .2 g from the energy of this matter over an extended time (I believe that to be possible) it would get you a lot of places we might need to go.

if it takes it 100 years to get to a quarter light speed, then it really does us no good, except for deep space probes... and the we would need a way to communicate with it...

One must stumble before one walks.

The stars are yet beyond our reach.

But then when man stepped forth upon the oceans of earth he did not do so in a concorde... Rather in small bark boats.

Nor did we go first to a new land. First we stepped one by one upon small islands.

many small islands exist in our local stellar environment. Those should be our goal before we can dare the stars.

They are reachable by a .2g constant thrust craft in but months.

If earthly storms produce these 'antimatter' streams how much action would a 'collector' see from a jupiter size storm?

Could we see such a 'stream' from an earth orbiting sensor?

or would we need to send a probe to Jupiter to find out?

Perhaps collecting such streams is a future comercial endeavour.

Are there any dreamers left out there?
