She was a congresswoman in Tucson, Raool Greehalva was the other. She was hosting a "Congress on your corner" event at a safeway in NW Tucson and somebody grabbed her by the head and plugged her. He also shot 12 others and is now in custody. i wasn't a huge fan of hers but didn't mind he too much because she tried to be middle of the road and was pro business. I'm actually becoming more pissed off the more I think about it. There is no word yet on her condition.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona reportedly shot


U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot in the head outside a grocery store in Tucson while holding a public event, U.S. National Public Radio reported Saturday.

At least three of her staff members were also shot by an unidentified gunman who ran up and began shooting indiscriminately, according to media reports.

NPR says,

"U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot outside a grocery store in Tucson while holding a public event, Arizona Public Media reported Saturday.

"The Democrat, who was re-elected to her third term in November, was hosting a 'Congress on Your Corner' event at the Safeway in northwest Tucson when a gunman ran up and started shooting, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.

"At least five other people, including members of her staff, were hurt. Giffords was transported to University Medical Center in Tucson. Her condition was not immediately known."

As happens when a story is just breaking, there are conflicting reports at this moment about what has happened. The Arizona Republic, for example, is saying that reports Giffords was injured are unconfirmed at this time. But CNN has an eyewitness on the air who says Giffords was shot.

A friend of mine had one of her clients tell her about before it even hit the news, she told her she had been shot in the head. I hope at the very least she was just shot and not life threatening.

They are saying that often heated debates about illegal immigration happen at these events.
