Ask a doctor for what he/she might recommend as the best aid/help for you, whether it be the nicotine gum or patches. Good luck with quitting!flowerforyou

Just be sure to check into the side affects...the pill they have out caused people to commit suicide

I quit 09/09/09 and I am still not completely comfortable with myself nicotine free yet.

I used the gum to start and then just went cold turkey on the above date.

I would say you have to give yourself a lot of lee way to be grumpy and tired. Also find something constructive to do with your hands.

I gained a little weight also. I still eat sometime to curb the urge for a cig. But it has slowed down some.

It is one of the hardest things I have ever done.

I did not pick up another cig even when I was feenin because it was such a struggle the first few weeks that I did not want to start over but if you fall off the wagon I wouldn't be hard on myself.

Hope that is helpful

There's ONLY ONE WAY, you have to WANT to stop.

I got sick after I moved to Aggieland and didn't smoke for 4 days because my lungs hurt too bad and so I figured that I didn't really need them and never smoked them again! That was 4 & 1/2 years ago happy

This month marks 5 years since I quit cold turkey cause my lungs hurt.
It was the hardest thing I've ever done.
The key for me was talking myself out of having 'just one more'.
It took about a year to stop craving one every day.

I used the patch to quite and chewed on a lot of toothpicks. It seemed that when ever I felt like putting a cig in my mouth I would put a toothpick in instead. It's been probably 15 years now. And I'm cig and toothpick free. happy

I have heard some people using suckers or gum as their replacement. Even mints. Hope that helps.
