A 17-year-old Carson teen is being sought after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in her shoulder then shooting at her father after an argument last night.

According to Detective Dena Lacy, John "Nubs" Linville, 17, is being sought for questioning following the 9:30 p.m. altercation on Walker Drive in East Carson City.

Lacy said Linville went to the girl's house after telling friends he intended to kill her.

She said that when Linville stabbed the girl in the shoulder, the girl's father intervened and Linville allegedly pulled out a gun he'd taken from a friend's house.

Linville and the father, Ed Beaumont, 56, struggled over the weapon, but despite the gun going off while pointed directly at Beaumont's chest the bullet did not injure him. Instead it just left a powder burn on his T-shirt, said Sheriff Ken Furlong.

"Explain that one, " Furlong said incredulously.

The girl's suffered a minor stab wound.

Linville then allegedly fled on foot and law enforcement officers have been searching for him through the night.

Linville is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall with dark hair and blue eyes. He was born with one arm. He has a tattoo on his right wrist and a banner under his collar bone. He has large gauges in his ears.

A Carson City teen wanted in connection with a stabbing and shooting Sunday night surrendered to authorities this morning.

Carson City Sheriff's detectives contacted John “Nubs” Linville, 17, at the home of a friend on Surrey Lane in East Carson City just after 11 a.m.

Linville was wanted for questioning in the Sunday night stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, and the shooting of her father. The stabbing was superficial, and for unknown reasons, the bullet caused no damage to the father, despite being fired at his chest from a close range.

Linville then allegedly fled and has been the subject of a manhunt since.

Linville was taken back to the detective division. He will likely be booked into the adult jail on a charge of attempted murder.

Details will be posted as they become available.

Carson City teen who surrendered Tuesday following a Sunday night incident in which he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend and shot her father said it all “seems like a dream.”

John “Nubs” Linville, 17, was booked into Carson City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing ex-girlfriend Desiree Beaumont, 16, in the back and battery with a deadly weapon for allegedly firing a .22-caliber handgun into Ed Beaumont's chest. Miraculously, the bullet did not injure Beaumont.

According to the arrest report, Linville's neighbor called Detective Dena Lacy on Tuesday afternoon to report that Linville was at his Surrey Lane home and wanted to surrender.

When police arrived, a freshly shorn Linville walked outside with four friends and the neighbor. He was taken into custody without incident, the report states.

During questioning, Linville allegedly said he had been drinking all day Sunday when he and Desiree began sending text messages back and forth.

Linville said he remembers asking Desiree if he could go to her house. When she agreed he began to walk, but en route, stopped at a friend's house and stole a gun from the friend's father, the report states.

The friend and his father both allegedly heard Linville say he wanted to kill Desiree, said Lacy, but they both thought after talking with him he had calmed down.

The friend then allegedly drove Linville to Desiree's Walker Drive home and waited outside. Linville said his friend did not know he had weapons on him.

“He said he obviously intended on hurting Desiree or else he wouldn't have taken a gun and knife over there,” the report states. “John said ... it all seems like a dream. He said he doesn't know if he was going to kill Desiree or himself, but he doesn't think he was going to kill her whole family.”

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, once at Desiree's house, Linville allegedly stabbed her as she tried to run past him on the porch. When her father heard her screams, he rushed outside and Linville allegedly fired the gun he had stolen earlier in the evening.

The bullet, which left a powder burn on Ed Beaumont's shirt, did not pierce his clothing or body.

Beaumont said he then yanked the gun from Linville and chased him down the street, beating him with the weapon, which fell apart with each blow.

When Beaumont let go of Linville to check on his daughter, Linville allegedly fled.

The girl was also not seriously injured.

According to the arrest report, Linville said that as he was running away, his friend drove off. He allegedly told Lacy he had been hiding out at “Lucky Canyon” off Deer Run Road since the shooting and had walked to his friend's house to surrender.

When asked if he was concerned about whether Desiree or her father were hurt, Linville said he was worried about Desiree, the report states.

“I asked about Edward. He told me he worried more about Desiree than her dad because they never really got along,” Lacy wrote in the report.

“I asked him if he regretted what he did,” Lacy added. “He said yes, as soon as he was running down the street he regretted it.”

According to the report, Linville said he surrendered “because he has problems that need to be addressed.”

He is being held on $250,000 bail.

According to District Attorney Neil Rombardo, despite the fact that Linville is 17 years old, Nevada law does not consider attempted murder a delinquent act.

“He is automatically treated as an adult. No certification is required,” said Rombardo.

A second arrest was made in connection with the Sunday night assault of a father and daughter in East Carson City.

Brandon Hicks, 18, a heating and air conditioning installer from Carson City, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of two counts of felony intimidating a public officer.

According to the arrest, report, Hicks is a friend of John Linville, 17, accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the back and shooting the girl's father, Ed Beaumont, in the chest following a break up. Neither was seriously injured.

Linville allegedly stole the weapon from Hicks' father, and Hicks allegedly drove Linville to the victims' home. He then drove off as Linville was being chased by the girl's father, according to police. Linville also allegedly fled.

When police contacted Hicks during the shooting investigation, officers took Hicks' phone in an effort to track Linville's whereabouts.

According to the arrest report, when Linville surrendered to police at the Hicks home on Tuesday, Hicks allegedly demanded officers return his cell phone.

“If I don't get my phone back today, I am coming down there and you guys are going to have another Sunday to deal with and your little vests won't help you 'cause I aim for your head,” the report states Hicks allegedly threatened.

“When Hicks said that we would have another ‘Sunday' to deal with ... I interpreted those statement as an immediate threat that he intended to shoot Detective (Dena) Lacy and (me) if she did not give back his telephone,” wrote Detective Craig Lowe in his report.

After Linville was arrested and taken to the sheriff's office, officers called Hicks and told him to come down to the station to pick up his phone. When he arrived he was arrested. It's not clear if Hicks will face charges in the Beaumont assaults.

“Hicks told me he was sorry for threatening Detective Lacy and (me) and went on to agree that our fear of his threat to shoot us was reasonable in light of the fact that we knew he had guns available,” Lowe wrote.

Hicks' bail was set at $15,000.

Linville, jailed on suspicion of felony attempted murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon, appeared before Judge Robey Willis on Wednesday morning. Attempted murder is not considered a delinquent crime and automatically puts Linville before the adult courts.

Judge Willis appointed a public defender for Linville and set a preliminary hearing for Jan. 12.

Willis also left Linville's bail at $250,000, telling him he needed to either pay cash or give a bail bondsman 15 percent plus $40 which comes to $37,540.

If Linville does make bail he will be required to wear an ankle monitor. He was also ordered to stay away from the victims.

“No contact with the Beaumont family, period, in any way shape or form,” said Willis.

A Myspace.com page registered to Linville and last used in June 2009 is rife with obscenities. Under the heading “Here's A Little About Me” Linville wrote “I'm fascinated by murder and the brain...” and “crazy people (equal) me. RED RUM (equals) MURDER.” Just below that are scrolling photographs which include bloody scenes and kitchen knives.
