It dosen't take much to get me to talk about this subject. But I do have a certain question..

When Gaming online, do you prefer people who spell everything out? (in casual talking, in battle it is nessicary)

Or talk like this - OMG BBQ AO UAOE n00b BE 1337...

Personaly, I prefer the former...

my brain doesnt function that way i dont mind a little bit of shorthand but i prefer regualar words, my brain can process it faster than trying to remember the acronyms.

generally, you don't have time to type out everything

unless it's a game that incorporates slow periods or periods of waiting, like America's Army (but man, there were times when communication was essential, but you were in the heat of battle so couldn't type out more than a few letters... hence you had to learn all kinds of ridiculous abbrevitations... good times).

Which is why most people switch to voice communication now anyway.

But I don't play games any more anyway. Except with friends when we're really bored.

All you need is a microphone!

One of my roommates played WoW 24/7 first semester of last year... it'd be two in the morning, and we'd hear him shouting "COME TO JOEY, COME TO JOEY AND DIE!" at people in the game.

Man, good stuff.

I used to have a coworker who played Diablo religiously, he and his team would use Navy terminology like "Hot LZ" (dangerous landing zone) and nobodyt else could understand them.

geeks and nerds are some what the same. it means you are a junkie of something Geeky like Computers, anime, or Sci fi. "rob is a Star trek nerd".

I consider a nerd to be someone that has a lot of intelligence.

I consider a geek to be someone that doesn't have much in the way of book smarts and all, but good with technology. Like a nerd, but not quite as "overall" intelligent.

At any rate, I hate chatspeak and never use it while playing MMORPG's.

I'm plenty nerdy and I play online games and such, but I like spelling things out when I can. I don't mind when other people use l33t, but it's all about preference.
