I feel really strange.,and a little disgusted..,(excuse me for my language) why does people here in my country wants us to speak like an American., I guess it's good enough that we can speak English and understand each other, but I can't believe these people, they want us to twist our tongues and force as to sound like an American.., Come on!!!!!! we are Filipino duhhh

If in school the teacher, if in the workplace the boss. Even themselves they fail miserably..what a shame. I would imagine that what they are striving for is not an identical way of speaking, but a proper use of grammar. My best friend is a teacher in English and though his accent is American, he does not require this from his students. What he is strict about is proper usage. I have friends in the Call Center industry also. They are expected to speak with the accent that their company caters to. If their clientele are Americans, then it will be easier to be understood if they speak in the same accent. It's all matter of convenience. |
