Jan 1&2 are public holidays here. But this is because Xmas day & Boxing day fall on Saturday & Sunday. I could be wrong here, but I don't think the US recognises Boxing Day(the 26th Dec.) By golly, we do! We are up for all possible paid days off!bigsmile

Boxing Day is the day when historically the wealthy would give to their servants the boxes that Xmas pressies were sent in. Way back when, these boxes were (a) highly prized &(b)quite decorative. The servants were apparently quite easily satisfied.

Some of them, if they survived must be quite valuable today. Quaint tradition. I still think babies should be given empty boxes for presents..they like them better than what comes inside of them.

Or just give them last years ripped up Christmas paper in the boxes. Then they wouldn't be empty laugh

Kids always seem to like empty boxes, particularly if they can climb itto them & call it a boat or castle

Of course, 60plus years later, there are those who call boxes home sadly

So if you were to use your imagination, what would you use the empty box for??

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

I'd fill it full of hopes and dreams for my kids and grandkids.
