Topic: she's a brick house. | |
---|---|
does anyone know how thick a brick wall usually is.
like a wall for a garden. does the height matter. |
bricks come in different thicknesses, and height matters. the center of gravity changes the higher you stack
average red brick.
eight by four by two and a quarter. for an eight foot wall. |

they do, but the normal size brick is 2 1/2in tall, 2 1/2in thick, and 9 1/4in long.
kings are different as are halfs highs... |

eight foot wall. you will definately need mortar
lets just say i'm using eight by four by two and a quarter.
and mortar. now how thick does it have to be. |
for what?
for it not to fall and kill people.
the thickness of the brick you choose is depends on what that wall is doing. freestanding, holding back soil, load bearing. too many factors to make a decision
need more info

your link didn't work.
the wall would just enclose a garden. maybe there'd be ivy on it. but that's it. |

so, freestanding?
any way to tie it into another structure? is it straight, L shaped, square??? |
eight feet tall wall to enclose a garden? well it sounds like the wall will be freestanding. plain brick and mortar is fine. but eight feet tall?
sure.
and it's a damn garden. no buildings sir. |
so i'm picturing like circular or rectangle, square maybe but enclosed garden right

ok, 8ft tall is too much, it will not stand over time. have you thought about a decorative concrete block? 16x8x8
eighty by eighty feet.
which way does the brick look "crappier." all brick wall or just bricks layered on top. |

but it won't be eight feet all the way around.
that's the highest it'll get to. |
