Who reads them? Although I haven't been able to keep up with them for the last month or so (Unfortunately), I absolutely love the DC Universe (Batman, Green Lantern, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc.).
Favorite heroes would probably be Batman and Green Lantern (The entire GL Corps, actually), whereas my favorite villains would be Joker and Darkseid. |

I don't buy a lot of comics, I prefer to get TPBs. I'm reading Irredeemable, Incorruptible and The Goon. My favorite comic book character is "The Buzzard" from "The Goon" comic. The fact that he's a hero who is also a monster is interesting. |

I do. Don't collect them like I used to. Though I'm not big on superhero comics. I'm more of a fan of the Underground/Indie stuff Robert Crumb, Vaughn Bodé, Richard Corben, Reed Waller, Bernie Wrightson are some favorites.....
My favorite series would be Paul Chadwick's Concrete, Elaine Lee and Michael Kaluta's Starstruck, and Reed Waller and Kate Worley's Omaha The Cat Dancer. |

I read them voraciously as a kid, but was not able to collect. The only super heroes I read were the DC comic characters. The rest were horror comics, both local and imported. The horror comics held more fascination for me, more than anything else.

I have a big collection of horror comics- many from DC: Ghosts, Secrets Of The Haunted House, Unexpected, House Of Mystery, Weird Mystery Tales. Also through Charlton Comics: Ghostly Tales, Scary Tales, Many Ghosts Of Doctor Graves. I even have a few Twilight Zone Comics, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and some Boris Karloff Tales Of Mystery. Plus some of the comic magazines: Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella... |

Red_Lace,
You might find "The Goon" to your taste. It's a mix of horror, comedy and camp. It follows the life of a mafia goon and his vicious best friend Franky, who tries to rid the city they live in of the evil nameless priest and his army of undead. It also doesn't hurt that Eric Powell is one of the best artists around. |

Plus some of the comic magazines: Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella... I first read Ripley's from my grandfather's paperback collection, but I can't find it now. I loved Creepy and Tales from the Crypt. They were the only ones we had regularly back in the day, though sometimes, we would have Twilight Zone and Ghostly Tales. My favorite before was a local comic by Mars Ravelo and the "Goomboo Roomboo". There were also local comics about the scary folklore here, like the aswang, which is a woman whose upper body would separate with the lower half, so it could fly away using bat-like wings to hunt for people. |

There's an American horror movie based on the aswang mythos from the 90's called- Aswang. I do have some of the Tales From The Crypt, Vault Of Horror. I have the EC Archives Tales From The Crypt Vol. 1, which is a hard bound book with the first 6 issues. Also Bernie Wrightson's comic book adaptation of Creepshow. |

If you pick up "The Buzzard" miniseries, it includes a story about a hag who was an aswang. And as I've already mentioned, "The Buzzard" is my favorite comic book character, so the series itself is really good.

Though I don't collect them anymore, I have a big collection of Archie Comics(whenever my family would go on trips my mom would buy me a bunch of the comic issues, and digests), and a few years ago for Christmas I got:
Archie Americana Series: Best of the Forties(with a Forward by Stephen King) |

I know, there's the Filipino version, of course. But I would recommend watching Shake, Rattle and Roll. And make sure it's the first movie, because the sequels are all blech in a major way. I think you'll like it. Just enough cheese to sweeten the deal, T. I loved it. And I know you have treasures there that would keep a horror fan blissfully happy for a long time. The question is, when can I borrow some of it. |

Holy cow, there's a lot of films in that series. I need to track the first one down. When can you come over? Yep, 9, I think? It all went downhill after the second film was made, so don't even think of watching those. Look for the first, though I don't know if they have subs for it. Oh, and I heard they have Fed Ex in Oregon now. |
