Job 35:5-8
------------------------------------------------------------- Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou. If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. ------------------------------------------------------------- |

Well, I admit it. I'm disappointed that nobody commented on this scripture. I was reading the Bible last night, came acrossed it and it really spoke to me. I enjoyed reading everythin that Elihu had to say, but those four verses were special. It's humbling to think of how glorious and powerful God is and how nothing we can think, say or do is of any use to God Himself. He gave us laws to live by, so that we treat our fellow man the right way, not because He gets anything out of our good works or loses anything through our bad works. The quoted verses are a window into what God wants from us and the reasons for His laws.

Thanks Spider, first time I've read this scripture in a while. It is very humbling, God doesn't 'need' anything from us, everything IS His.
Praise Him for sending Jesus to save this lost and dying world! |

God was putting Job in his place by giving perspective. It is a lesson we all need from time to time....more often than not.
