Should you be nice to someone just because they are a friend of a loved one or another close friend? I mean, do you thik you are obligated to be nice and agree with whatever they say? My brother introduced me to one of his close friends that he works with. He is a nice enough guy, but he is extremely anti-government. And when I say extreme, I mean EXTREME. He is always trying to get people to sign petitions and protest against whatever cause he is into for the week. I believe everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but I don't agree trying to push it on everyone else. Would you politely just "smile and nod", or would you tell they guy you have no interest in what he is "selling"? I don't want to hurt his feelings, but he really gets on my nerves...hope this makes sense the way it is written.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with telling him that you are not interested.

And what if one day its a cause you truly believe in and your signature could've been the one to propel an issue you believe in....wouldn't you be missing out.....so he is an activists all he is asking you do is listen......you can always say no, I'm not interested in that cause.......but I understand you do......JMO

If it was something I truly thought would help, I would gladly support it. I just didn't like the way he went about things. I finally deleted him from my Facebook because he posted a site on EVERYTHING I had posted in the last 24hrs...after I asked him to stop. I support his cause to an extent but I agree with Amanda. You should not try to throw your beliefs in others faces. I am a Christian but I associate with Atheists, Buddhists, even a few Satanists...whatever. To each their own and it is wrong to force yourself on anyone. NO MEANS NO.

No problem.

Just tell him. "Sorry, I seem to have misplaced my Giveadamn. Come talk to me after I have found it."

Get a tee shirt that says.

"I am a politic's free zone!"

Right...two things I don't discuss with just anybody: Religion and Politics...maybe I can get a shirt with both

He is a friend of your brother, so you can't avoid him, but make it clear you appreciate his views but you don't share them and that you would be grateful if he stopped trying to convert you. I have a close friend that pesters me about religion, I asked her to respect my choices and she keeps trying to make me change my mind so I stopped hanging with her as much. If she can't respect my view, why should I care about hers?
