Ok so I met this girl a couple months back and we just made it official. I am living in Japan currently and she is not Japanese. Anyway she went home to visit her family before we decided to start dating and I applied for this job. They wanted to do an interview but I had a mistake on my resume. Just a typo. When I called anbout the interview I told them about it and they said they would talk to their boss and mail me later. Time passed and I never heard from them and we started dating. Anyway I just got an email from them saying they would be scheduling the interview soon. If I get the job I move to Tokyo and leave the girl behind. It is about a 33% increase in salary. I am an engineer in the US but came to Japan to teach English just to experience living abroad ( I turned down a 78k a year job in the US to do this) and my goal is to get an engineering job here. The new job is still teaching but for an engineering company and they want someone with an engineering degree. It could give me good contacts. Not sure what I will do if they offer me the job.

I'm sorry, but from across the country?! I don't think so. It's one or the other. Having both is not going to work.

Follow your heart. Do what is in your best interest. If you already have plenty of money, and you're not suffering too horribly, go for the girl.

I will talk to her when I think I might actually get the job. I still think I am underqualified as they wanted so done that has intermediate Japanese ability and that's not me. They told me to apply anyway though. She will just get upset if I tell her. We already have to worry about language and culture barriers and the fact her parents dont like me even though they never met me.
