How come there isn't a thread about one of the greatest movies and the greatest military movie of all time?

It is one of my favorite movies. Especially since most of it was filmed using real US Navy equipment and personnel at the real Top Gun base in Fallon NV.

The dog fighting scenes were done by real Navy Pilots and Jets. It was also filmed on a real Carrier and the film makers controlled the carrier the USS Enterprise.

During filming, the director Tony Scott wanted to shoot aircraft landing and taking off, back-lit by the sun. During one particular filming sequence, the ship's commanding officer changed the ship's course, thus changing the light. When Scott asked if they could continue on their previous course and speed, he was informed by the commander that it cost $25,000 to turn the ship, and to continue on course. Scott wrote the carrier's captain a $25,000 check so that the ship could be turned and he could continue shooting for another five minutes.

Thats hott.

I also read that Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer really didn't and don't like eachother and got in a fight on the set where Kilmer kicked his a$$. In recent interviews Kilmer has called Cruise dangerous, exactly what he called him in the movie, and I tend to agree with his latest activities.

Hell they were gonna put a commercial to join the Navy on it, but the people at the Pentagon said why the hell would you wanna do that, the movie does a good enough job of that by itself.

I like Top Gun. The 80's was my favorite decade for Cruise- my favorite movies of his are all from that decade, besides Top Gun, Risky Business, The Color Of Money, Legend, Rain Man, Born on the 4th of July.

I loved Top Gun, Risky Business(Amazing Movie), The Outsiders, Rain Man, Day of Thunder and A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire. Other then that I wont watch anyother Tom Cruise movie until he renounces Scientology.

Totally! surprised I read the Producers and Director's wante dto do anyother one after the movie released for charity but Tom Cruise wouldn't do it because of the hatred between Val Kilmer and himself.

Awesome! I was thinking about naming my baby kitten Charlie! LOL Do you have the new two disc set?

Fun fact, did you know the actress that played her, Kelly Mcguiness just came oout as a lesbian? Not that that matters to me since I support gay and lesbian marriage and all of their other rights, it was just shocking because she was a major sex symbol during the 80's.

I also like the Air Force movie Iron Eagle, with Jason Gedrick and Louis Gosset Jr. It was awesome! They made three others too. The second was good, but 3 and 4 were lame.
