TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's military chief of staff says Tehran could strike Israel's nuclear facility if the Jewish state were to attack Iran's nuclear sites.

The semiofficial Mehr news agency quoted Gen. Hasan Firouzabadi as saying Iran hopes there won't "be a need to target the nuclear facility of the Zionist regime," but if there is Israel would receive "dreadful retribution."

Israel's main nuclear reactor is located near Dimona in the Negev desert.
Firouzabadi was speaking Friday on Quds Day, an annual state-backed anti-Israel rally in Iran.

Iranian officials often use the occasion to make threatening remarks against Israel.

Israel has not ruled out a military strike against Iran's nuclear sites.

Tehran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Israel and the West fear Iran aims to develop nuclear weapons.

Iran's primitave weapons couldn't touch Israel's defense systems and fighters. Not to mention American and other allies equipment in the region.

I think that if our coward in chief keeps the course he's on we will see Israel lay the smack down on iran. The only reason they haven't done anything yet is because they are concerned for American's safety in the region, but that concern is getting old with Netanyahu.

then pakistan takes out isreal, then it's more or less a nuclear holocaust...india may or may not take out pakistan, russia and china would have to get involved... so we wouldn't have to wait for 2012...

I dont think it will go nuclear so soon. If Iran continues to make threats against Israel, its possible that they will take out Irans missle capability with a conventional air raid.

No, it's because out Coward in Chief keeps telling Israel that Iran is atleast a year until they have a weapon. What Obama doesn't realize is that if Iran is hit it will turn that one year to fifteen or twenty.

Oblowme is giving lip service to Israel, and trying to cover for Iran, but the Israeli's are'nt stupid, they have better intelligence than we do, and they have been threatened at least six times publicly by Iran.

The lip service is working, it stopped Israel from a sure attack on Iran's nuclear site before it went live.
