Homeless man calls 911 from hot tub, seeks cocoa

BEAVERTON — A homeless man who called 911 from the hot tub of a suburban Portland home and asked for towels, hot chocolate and a hug got himself arrested instead.

Beaverton police say Mark Eskelsen called emergency dispatchers from his cell phone, identified himself as “the sheriff of Washington County,” and asked for medical help. He later admitted he wasn’t the sheriff but informed the dispatcher he’d been “yelling for about an hour and a half.”
Neighbors could vouch for that. They had called 911 themselves, concerned about the man they could hear bellowing early Sunday morning.
The man said he’d been in the water about 10 hours and his towels had gotten wet. As he put it, “I just need a hug and a warm cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it.”
The Oregonian says arriving officers arrested Eskelsen for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass and improper use of 911.

A lot of homeless people will commit crimes hoping to goto jail. That's what this sounds like.

Back when I did Loss Prevention I had a homeless guy grab a bottle of liquor and conceal it into his pants while walking in front of the checkstands. As I stopped him he caught me off guard because he hit me, a little old homeless man! So I cuffed him and took him back. He asked if what he did was a Felony and when I told him it was like two and a misd. Robbery, Burglary and Petty Larceny he said, "Good, nothing against you I just have no where to go and I haven't eaten in like a week, im sorry I didn't mean to hit you but now I have a place to stay."

I felt so bad that I went to the deli and got the guy some food and a bottle of water, uncuffed him now that I had him in the office and let him eat. There were two of us there by that time and it was a little old man, hell he didn't really even need to be in cuffs.

Doubt it, I don't think they serve it in jail.
