Ok I'm new to this whole area, and I can't find anything fun to do that doesn't involve liqueur, or the movies..... what else is there to do down here beside get drunk?

Suggestion, get out while you can! Unless you want to drive to Houston like the previous guy said, there is nothing else in SE Texas. Well, ok, not totally. Village Creek is fun to go canoeing and swimming in. You can also find some places like the Neches river to do watersports like jetskiing and wakeboarding and stuff.

i go fishing a lot down here. but when it feel like 115 out side i don't want to. my hubby has a lake house up by wood ville. and we go out there. i just miss indoor activities that don't involve liqueur or drunk dudes. no disrespect but drunk guys are hella bad when it come to keeping there hands to them selves. i like museums are there any in Beaumont. i would be so lost in Huston.

The only museum I can think of down there is Spindletop. I lived in Port Neches for 13 years and can tell you for the most part the only indoor activities to do in SE Texas that don't involve drinking are hanging out at Waffle House or Wal-Mart or walking around at Parkdale or Central Mall. I'm not sure if it still goes on but the 11th Street cruise used to be pretty entertaining. Just people driving up and down 11th St showing off their cars. You also may want to try the Art Studio in downtown off MLK. They sometimes have some pretty good concerts there, outdoors but at night so it's not so hot. I again assume this still goes on. Another thing, I'm not sure where you came from but when you get a chance, go to Market Basket and try some of the fried boudain balls. I prefer the one in Port Neches but they're all good. I load up on those every time I go down to visit friends and family.

Oh man, I've lived in Dallas the last 5 1/2 years and couldn't imagine moving back to that area. Although the one thing I do miss is the cajun food. Only decent boudain I can find up here at decent price is Holmes Smokehouse brand at Kroger and it's still only sub par comparatively. And apparently the Art Studio still does band night. Here's the website...http://www.artstudio.org/. Oh, one more place I forgot about that me and my friends used to like hanging out at sometimes, Logon Cafe, http://www.logoncafe.net/. It's a coffee shop with a stage and music some nights.

Anything to help a poor soul who has to live down there!
