TOASTED ALMOND TART
A moist almond filling tops butter pastry to make this dessert special. Preparation time: 40 min Baking time: 43 min Yield: 10 servings Pastry Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour 6 tablespoons cold LAND O LAKES® Unsalted Butter 3 to 4 tablespoons cold water Filling Ingredients: 2/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup LAND O LAKES® Unsalted Butter, softened 1 (6-ounce) package (1 2/3 cups) sliced almonds, toasted 1 teaspoon almond extract 2 eggs Topping Ingredients: 1 cup LAND O LAKES® Heavy Whipping Cream 1 tablespoon sugar Heat oven to 350°F. Place flour in large bowl; cut in 6 tablespoons butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in enough water with fork until flour mixture is just moistened. Shape into a ball. Roll out pastry on lightly floured surface into 14x9-inch rectangle. Place in ungreased 11x7-inch tart pan with removable bottom. Prick bottom of pastry with fork. Bake for 20 minutes or until pastry is light golden brown. Combine sugar, 1/2 cup butter, almonds and almond extract in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy and almonds are broken. Add eggs; mix well. Spread almond mixture onto hot, partially baked pastry. Bake for 23 to 28 minutes or until filling feels firm to touch. Cool completely. Meanwhile, beat whipping cream in small bowl at high speed until soft peaks form. Add sugar; continue beating until stiff peaks form. To serve, dollop each serving with whipped cream. Store refrigerated. TIP: Roll out pastry on lightly floured surface into 12-inch circle. Place in ungreased 9-inch round tart pan with removable bottom. Prick and bake as directed. TIP: Baked pastry with almond filling can be made ahead, wrapped and frozen for several days, if desired. Top with whipped cream just before serving. TIP: To toast almonds, spread evenly in shallow pan. Bake at 350°F, stirring once, for 4 to 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.
