It is hard to deal with other people when this is all you see... Why do you think some of us ARE crazy? It sure wasn't becasue of how nice it is where I live. Oh people are so caring and understanding! That a lil creepy... |

I can't imagine a marginally crazy person helping in any situation; usually a person who operates on uncontrolled energy makes a situation worse. Plus, they usually have a roller coaster of a life and I can't handle the drama. Ah, if only the rest of the world was this condescending... things might be better...? You always accuse me of being condescending when I simply make a statement. My statement is not directed to anyone in particular. I am only stating how I conduct my personal life. I am not a "warm and fuzzy" person; I don’t coddle or “ooh and awww” at every corner. I don't think stating a basic fact equals being me being condescending. Facts may not be fun but I appreciate statements that are not sugarcoated. Can you imagine a judge or attorneys reciting contract law or the constitution using the dancing banana? Life is not puppy dogs and rainbows. (there, I do have a sense of giggle at times). |

Now if the matter is something within the person's control, yes, I can be condescending too. But... mental illness is beyond a person's control, a chemical imbalance within the brain. Why blame the person, for that? Sometimes the best cure is a friend, someone to talk to. To simply refuse to befriend somebody because of a mental illness, to me... isn't very considerate. |

Of course not. Life is cats on a barbeque grill. Well, that was life on Planet Melmac. |

Since when are we talking about a mental disability? My understanding of the OP's topic is whether a person would have a friend in their life that is a little "Mad Max" or high strung - not mentally ill. He referenced going from Chihuahua to Pit Bull in less than 5 seconds. I don't think he was referring to a mental illness - and used a bit of humor in his post. My reply was based on his original post. Of course I have compassion for anyone with a disability but we are talking about extreme personalities rather than a diagnosis of a specific psychosis. |
