What are your opinions? and how do you think this affects society? Do you think these things have built characters in most human beings? I think so. So i will explain each one of them to you. Just give me your thoughts.

Wrath, Greed, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, && Envy.

Why are they the 7 deadly sins?

LUST- Excessive thoughts of desire in a sexual nature, why is it a sin? Because it means "Excessive love of others" which renders love and devotion to god as secondary.

GLUTTONY- Over indulgence or over- consumption of anything to the point of waste. Why is it a sin? it is a sin because of the excessive "desire" for food and it is taking away from the needy. [put the candy bar down]

GREED- Kind of like lust and gluttony it is an excessive desire but for wealth, status & power. Why is it a sin? because of the behavior in which greedy people portray. for example: Disloyalty, betrayal, theft, bribery, hoarding, selfishness, manipulation & ETC. [ahh... we all want money don't we?]

SLOTH- It is not a very big sin but it is a sin in which people portray laziness. It is a sin of omission rather then commission.

WRATH- This is an obvious sin. Hate & Anger. sin of wrath also encompassed anger pointed internally rather than externally. Thus suicide was deemed as the ultimate, albeit tragic, expression of wrath directed inwardly, a final rejection of God's gifts.

ENVY- Those who commit the sin of envy resent that another person has something they perceive themselves as lacking, and wish the other person to be deprived of it. sinful pleasure from seeing others brought low.

PRIDE- Is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and indeed the ultimate source from which the others arise. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of self. The most best way to describe this is the story of lucifer. And pride caused his fall from heaven.


Take for granted that these are the purest forms, and i merely put them together for opinions. This has nothing to do with religion in any way. I just want views.

Nononononoooooooo ... there are no 'Seven Deadly Sins' ... That's a list of things that are kinda / sorta like 'Seven Things You Might Wanna Consider Not Doing' ... Every time people start havin' fun, 'Da MAN' wants to shut 'em down ... I mean, what's wrong with these things ... ? Everything in moderation is okay, ain't it ... ? Wa SHO it is ... ! Well, up to the point them 'needy' people want my candy bar ...

Yeah i agree that is why i said this post has nothing to do with religion and i only wanted people's opinions and that is also why i put them in quotations.

LUST - Eff it

GLUTTONY - Eat it

GREED - Grab it

SLOTH - Leave it

WRATH - Break it

ENVY - Want it

PRIDE - Strut it

Whenever i read your posts i picture an old hillbilly. but hillbilly or not you is gonna go to hell. (if it exists) but to be quite honest i think man created hell as a diversion for humans to want to do good.

Honestly, the 7 sins don't really affect society in any positive manner. They simply ridicule one's life, and choices to the point that you wouldn't even want to bother with religion. Such as 'WWJD' that I have decided to change into 'WWCND' because I don't know about you, but I would rather do what Chuck Norris would do...probably cause I like fire.

Dante had quite an imagination.

The deadly sins actually come from the "Inferno" by Dante.

They are not created by a religion per se but Dante used his understanding of religion and hell to create them.

Pursued they do not satisfy but leave a sourness in the core, of always wanting more.

I don't want to turn this into a religious topic on you, but the original list was written in the 4th century and in 590 AD Dante revised the list into 7 and included them in "Inferno"

The seven deadly sins were on the history channel today. Maybe it'll be on again tomorrow.
