is going to be working on 5 differnt families homes here in salem in september so that going to be one of there newest shows on tv this was posted in the salem paper the other day this would be so cool to watch in person here is the info ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is coming to Salem. Five family finalists in the Salem-Keizer area still are being considered for the show's eighth season build. The show's team leader, Ty Pennington, along with the design and construction teams, will surprise the winner in the first week of September with a knock on the door. The winners will receive a complete home renovation in one week's time. After visiting all 50 states, ABC still receives about 1,000 letters a week from interested families. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" has helped more than 170 families; each project is made possible by donations and volunteers. "Every nail, every piece of furniture and every stick of lumber will be donated, including the vacation for the recipients," said Diane Korman, senior producer for the show. To get a jump start on the project, the show's producers already have chosen a construction team: Rich Duncan Construction. "Rich Duncan Construction's passion and commitment to the community was clear to us," said Milan Vasic, a senior producer for the show. Duncan Construction is responsible for overseeing the construction as well as event management, volunteer recruiting and supply collection. Rich Duncan, the company's president, already has met with a group of contractors from throughout the Mid-valley to develop teams and set up a plan of action for the project. Some of this work is being coordinated through Duncan's "Extreme Makeover" webpage where people can register to volunteer or donate supplies. Since the site officially was posted Thursday morning, 300 volunteers already had registered. "The most challenging part will be having more volunteers than we can handle," Duncan said. Duncan, who has been a volunteer himself many times, was surprised when he first received an e-mail from ABC asking him about the show. He thought it was a scam at first, he said. But two days later, they were in his office, Duncan said. Although he doesn't know who nominated his company, Duncan said he's excited to see the communities come together to work on the project. "We're going to make it a celebration," Duncan said. "We're going to have our own flair to it." cmgray@StatesmanJournal.com or (503) 399-6694 Read more: http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article/20100806/LIFE/8060321/1059/TEST#ixzz0w2tdsCGB |
