      When you move into a place you're renting, and you have to pay water and electric, do they have to give you a certain amount of time to transfer those into your name?

      The laws maybe different in each state. 
 
  I think 30 days is the standard but ask your landlord; they might work with you but get the arrangement in writing. I've always had to arrange getting the utilities in my name before I take the keys as part of my lease. This is for house rentals. Apartments might be different.  |

      I'll be moving into an apartment, in South Carolina.
 
  They want 3 months rent upfront, with security deposit and pet deposit. In the application it says that tenants must make atleast 3 times their rent, but I don't have a job right now, that's why they want the three months rent upfront. I'm just not sure if they'll give me some time to switch the electric in my name.  |

      I have noticed with renting you have to set up your own services cause they use a company that only works with apartment complexes and not individuals.
