Topic: Iranian Stoning Case Lawyer Disappears | |

Mina Ahadi of the International Campaign Against Stoning tells Fox News that the lawyer for Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, the 43-year-old Iranian woman who had been sentenced to death by stoning, and whose fate remains in the balance, has gone missing, presumably into hiding. The lawyer, Mohammad Mostafaei, was interrogated for four hours in Iran’s Evin Prison on July 26th, according to Ahadi. She said the interrogation focused on Mostafaei’s bank accounts, into which contributions have been made to pay for the defense of Mohammadi Ashtiani. Ahadi says the lawyer was subsequently asked to return to Evin for further questioning. He wrote about this on his blog, saying he felt it would be dangerous for him to return to the prison. Mostafaei has been missing since. But according to Ahadi, both Mostafaei’s wife and his brother-in-law have been detained in Iran, and the authorities are telling them that they will be released if Mostafaei turns himself in. The woman Mostafaei represents, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, was sentenced to stoning for allegedly carrying out an extra-marital affair. That sentence was denounced around the world as barbaric. The Iranian Embassy in London announced earlier this month that Ashtiani would not be stoned, and that, in fact, she had never been sentenced to stoning. But advocates for Mohammadi-Ashtiani say her fate remains unclear. She remains in prison. And Mina Ahadi from the International Campaign Against Stoning has spoken to her children who say Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani fears the authorities will come for her in the night and “take care of her” without even giving her a chance to say good-bye to her family. The international campaign to save Mohammdi Ashtiani has been vigorous. Mina Ahadi says she and others working alongside her will not let up in these efforts to spare her, because activism in the past has stopped stonings from happening. Gotta' at least give 'em that women there are least likely to be screwin' around.
Musta' been some good lovin' she was gettin' to risk gettin' stoned. Or the old man just got tired of her and wanted a fresh one. They can marry children there, right? |

Or the old man just got tired of her and wanted a fresh one. They can marry children there, right? Yea, but there was not any evidence that she cheated. The judges used their feelings on the woman, since judges there are apparently pretty good at looking at and deciding if someone is guilty or not without looking at any evidence. |
