SALEM -- A two-year-old survived a fall from the window of a Salem apartment Thursday morning.
The boy fell from a window at the Orchard Park Apartments on 4100 Kacey Circle NE at about 10:15 a.m. Salem fire and police officials said the boy did not appear to have any fractures or obvious trauma and was transported to Salem Hospital. According to the boy's family, the toddler was fine and was even giggling later in the day. KGW learned that another child fell from a window at the same apartment complex five years ago. That toddler, Nathan Combs, is now seven years old. He, too, was also fine after the fall. Nathan told KGW he was leaning back that day, petting the cat. when he fell. "I thought the window was, like shut," said Nathan. Nathan's mother said her son fortunately hit the grass and "ended up with a mouth full of dirt." The good weather has many people opening windows in their homes, and Salem Fire officials cautioned people to make sure windows and screens were secure. |
