I was just curious as to when everyone thinks an appropriate time is to meet the family. Should it be parents and siblings at one time...and extended family later?

Can't say when the right time would be, it varies from person to person. For me, I would prefer to not meet them all at the same time, especially if it's a big group. Can be a little intimidating.

I don't know why but I always end up meeting the guys fam before he meets mine. Parents like me bigsmile

I don't think there is any protocol just as long as the other person does a good job prepping you for any one that might be a pain in the you know what.

I say parents first. Hopefully they like him and then they will tell everyone else how they like your new bf and then when the rest of the family meets him they already like him.laugh  flowerforyou

When I'm highly intoxicated. No, but really high, helps to laugh at stupid jokes when you are stoned.

I'm not sure, maybe if you've been together for six months or more and the relationship is serious and you intend on it being long term. Whenever you both are comfortable enough to meet the family. Something like that maybe.

I guess it's more for him meeting my family. We have been together since January. Over the 4th he had his big family reunion. I had met his brother and a few cousins prior to then. Otherwise I met most of his dad's side of the family which was at least 70 new people. I am just trying to figure out when to bring him around to meet my extended family.

Anyone I've dated usually met my folks and brother within a month. No one's ever met my extended family, since they're mostly all up in Michigan.

whenever everyone feels comfortable with it. Meeting the parents/family doesn't necessarily mean it's serious IMO

I have been very lucky, I have met the family and was always liked, but sometimes it is best to wait for a while and give hints to the family so they are prepared for this slightly tilted at the axis man....laugh laugh  flowerforyou

When you both consider yourselves a couple. Serious relationship.

I was raised in Michigan. I so miss the white Christmases. Even after being away from there for 30 years.
