Topic: Iran nearing nuclear bombs' Russia warns | |
---|---|
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says Iran is "moving closer" to having the potential to create nuclear weapons.
It is one of the first times Moscow has publicly recognised that Iran might be moving towards a nuclear weapon. Russia, which has strong economic and military ties with Iran, has traditionally been an ally of Tehran. But it has recently adopted a tougher stance towards Tehran's nuclear drive, and backed the fourth round of UN sanctions that was imposed last month. "Iran is moving closer to possessing the potential which in principle could be used for the creation of nuclear weapons," Mr Medvedev told a meeting of ambassadors in Moscow. The US and major European Union powers suspect that Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear programme is peaceful. On 10 June, the UN Security Council endorsed a fourth round of sanctions on Iran, including tighter financial curbs and an expanded arms embargo. Since then, the US and EU have unilaterally imposed additional sanctions, including a ban on investment in Iran's oil and gas industry, as well as trade with key banks and individuals. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has dismissed the vote and rejected calls to halt uranium enrichment - which could have military as well as civilian uses. |

I think I need to sit down, Moscow agreeing with the US and it's allies? |

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has dismissed the vote and rejected calls to halt uranium enrichment - which could have military as well as civilian uses. The reporter adds this last bit, but does not offer evidence of its supposed "military uses". A poorly written hit piece. |

Look here-RIA Novosti paints a very different picture. Perhaps the Brits are playing their traditional lapdog role again with that previous posted piece?
![]() http://en.rian.ru/business/20100712/159773157.html MOSCOW, July 12 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian Petroleum Minister Masoud Mir Kazemi and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko are expected to meet on July 14 to discuss a road map on cooperation in the energy sector, the Russian Energy Ministry said on Monday. Iranian SHANA news agency on Monday cited Iranian Oil Ministry Official Hussein Ismaili as saying that the road map would create a cooperation program between the two countries for the next 30 years. The official also suggested that investors from Iran may be able to invest in the Russian oil and gas industry. "The most important issue in the preparation of the road map is collaboration between Iran and Russia in developing oil fields in both countries, as well as oil and gas fields located in any third country," Ismaili said. He added that collaboration between Iran and Russia would continue and any other cooperation in the oil and gas sector would be included in the framework of the road map. The UN Security Council approved in June a new package of economic sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear program. Last month Russian senior lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev said new sanctions on Iran would not affect Russia's energy or military cooperation with the Islamic Republic. |

Should have been worried 10-20-30 years ago.
Pakistan has nukes and actively supports terrorist and separatist groups in the Middle East. North Korea has nukes and lately they cause a lot of tension vs. South Korea and USA. India has nukes and with Pakistan, they have been engaged with Pakistan for many decades. Do you know why all the propaganda about Iran? Because by Iran gaining the nuclear status, joins the other countries who are already gone nuclear. And why? Because it's well known that both former superpower USSR and (almost) former superpower USA never threatens any countries who has nuclear capability. That's why Pakistan is an "ally", even though a bloody dictator was in power who was absolutely no different than Saddam Hussein durin 2001. The current one is a puppet figure from one of the richest families of Pakistan. USA does a tip-toeing around North Korea for the same reason, and JFK had his vision of seeing having a war with a nuclear country would be devastating globally. So what's the problem? That USA has been planning to dominate the Middle-East region and to secure the oil pipelines and bully nations into give in or face a military take over. Also Saudi-Arabia is no friend to Iran and sees Iran (and saw Iraq) as a compeititor when it comes to selling oil and getting rich. During the 50s and the 60s..Henry Kissinger was going around and try to make up deals about buying fossil fuel. Saudi-Arabia agreed, in exchange, they had to buy a portion of US debt with each sale. It's a double edged sword and basically being between a rock and a hard place. They have to sell their oil in order to gain wealth, but they also take the US debt by selling the oil so they hav no way out of the deal. 2 countries didn't sign this deal and was immediately under all sorts of false flags, false info and outside meddling into their politics and business. Can you guess the 2 countries? yes. Iraq and Iran. One of them is taken care for now..even though the occupation won't end (it's not a war, there is no war), the other has been in a plan for a decade now. In today's world the media is not used to inform people, but to form opinions to brainwash people, and it's a state sponsored propaganda. The media will say what the government wants you to hear and if any president or politician tries to sway off the course, that person will be destroyed mercilessly. His carrier, personal life, popularity will sink down the drain. That's why I always say, that ever since the media became so powerful..the USA has puppet presidents and puppet politicians. They are being controlled and if they try anything different or dare to have their own opinion, they will be struck by the powerful media outlets owned by mega-billion corporations and banks and that persident or politican can go ahead and say goodbye to politics forever and his career. |
