Millions of children are born into poverty, disease, and starvation. Needless to say, some things are beyond the control of the person at hand. Choices are based out of necessity; necessity dictates education, family, and friends. School shootings, parents losing control, and friends taking you with them.

We all like to say we steer the vehicle of our life, but it is rarely true, it is actually one of the more illogical statements simply because of the merit it is based on, us, and control.

So no, we don't always steer our life or death.

True, but we do choose our reaction to events in our life, and therefore the quality of the life we are given.

Tell that to those starving kids...actually don't, their quite aware of what their going through and with all their pain they may not be ready to hear how good this 'experience' is for them.

Was the headline a question? Yes, bad experiences make you a better person if you decide to let them. Or they can turn you into a mean and bitter person that no one wants to be around. It's a choice.

The deeper the pain the better the lesson learned.

The lesson learned can either be a positive one or a negative one though too.

Negativity leaves us stuck in our misery so it will not move us forward.

Negative lessons learned show in mistrust, cynicism, pessimism, apathy, self pity, depression, self destructive behavior, etc....

Positive lessons learned show in a positive outlook ie "I survived that and I am still standing", self responsibility ie "How much of that could have been prevented by any action on my part", getting to a point of non blame and acceptance, etc....

Even when another person cheats on you the point of positivity in the whole experience is that another person's life path may not be with you and that is not your fault. You have to let them go to live the life they need to live. The wrongness of the act is really irrelevant in the end.

Just my experience here.
