I hope I am allowed to show this app if not, please let me know.

I am a writer who sometimes has insomnia so I spend quite a bit of time on the computer at night and the eye strain can be brutal.

I have found a great app that adjusts the contrast on your monitor when the sun goes down. Download, go to the settings to show where you live and the app will automatically adjust the screen at around sunset.

Works with:
Mac OS-X
Windows XP/Vista/7
linux

Well, yeah, it looks nice 'n all that, but I do a helluva lot of graphics work and I need my monitor color-calibrated to look the same ALL the time so that my jobs print correctly. I can't see where this is an advantage for me and my workflow ... maybe for people who do spreadsheets or PowerPoint stuff where color isn't that critical, but I think I'm gonna pass on it ...

You're right, it probably doesn't work all that well for you but for many who simply send emails, write or just surf the net it's nice.

It doesn't change the color all that much it is sort of a mute feature.

I also find that the "Halogen" setting works best.

Thank you for posting this. I too write at night, usually between midnight and 2am. I find after a 3 or 4 days of writing I do have bad eye strain. I will definitely give this a try.

Are those 3 lines of code what they are calling a download? That's all I'm getting to show when I click on the download button, or is there a broken link somewhere?
