Any suggestions as to how to get rid of a wasp's nest that's located in a non-accessible area? They're under my small porch and all I can see are a couple of little holes where they go in and out.

DISCLAIMER - Never take FearandLoathing's advice when he recommends fire, he is a pyro, he plays with fire just to watch it or something else burn. He is not a professional, actually, he is far from it...he once lit a couch on fire with safety matches, do not trust this man. |

Any suggestions as to how to get rid of a wasp's nest that's located in a non-accessible area? They're under my small porch and all I can see are a couple of little holes where they go in and out. How is it non-accessible? Is there a small crack or a hole that leads to the nest? If there is, then here is what you do. What you need: 1. 2. Diesel or heating oil 3. Fill the can with the oil and spray it liberally all over in where the nest could be. If you can soak the nest, that's the best. 4. Don't smoke on the porch, don't make a fire anywhere near. It's gonna stink for a while, but the wasps don't like it either. |

Wait untill night when all the wasps are in the nest.
Get a can of spray adhesive and soak the nest. Spray adhesive works remarkably well (better than some poisons) and is about the same price. The wasps may begin to come out but will get stuck to the nest and then each other clogging the exit hole. Spray plenty of it on the exit after they have stopped coming out for the returning wasps. Spray adhesive however does not work for bees which unlike wasps will eat the dead clogging the hole, wasps will not. |

A friend had a problem with a wasp nest that ended up having about 3,000 !!! of the little effers in it.
The way I got rid of them is we hooked his wet/dry vacuum up to a very long extension cord, and propped the nozzle onto the railing, the end just an inch from the nest, and taped it there. Then we sprayed a lot of spray into the vac, then sprayed them, turned on the vacuum, and ran like hell. We let it run all night, and when we shut it off the next day, there were about 7-8 inches of them in the vacuum. |

well honey all these recommendations are great!! I love all living things BUT wasps and ticks are at the very low end of my list. Here In Nebr we smoke them out and then burn the nest its always worked for me!!

Thanks to everyone for the help. Here is the issue. My porch is built like a box (about 4X4X2' high), with the ground being the bottom. There are only a couple tiny of entry/exit holes into the box, making it impossible to see how big or where exactly the nest is. Now what? I can hear 'em, just can't see them except for when theycome and go. I really don't want to tear the porch apart, my carpentry skills are non-existant.
