Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. The years before seatbelts, plastic helmets, Mini Vans, computers, portable phones, digital tvs.. Those were the good old days.

When, instead of texting you,(or interupting you on X-box), Mom would call out the front door for you to get home. The days when you'd go outside after breakfast, and come home at lunchtime, and then be lost again till dinner. You'd drink out of the hose on the side of the house, and round up stray pop bottles for the ten cents you'd get back.
When the only trading cards had Mickey Mantle, or Pete Rose's faces on them. When the weatherman only knew what you knew. When Dad would threaten to turn the car around if ya didn't behave, and you wished there was some way to watch a movie in the backseat.

OMG...I wanna go back there!drinker

U could actually play kick the can even if it was dark and never worry!! If U acted up at a neighbors house U WOULD get scolded and Mom and Dad would thank them for it!! Transistor radios with one tiny ear plug was heavan to listen too at night!! Watching Gunsmoke and the Ed sullivan show at night with popcorn and cool aid!!! the Monkees were a treat if we got our chores done on time!! AND the first color TV I ever saw at my aunt and Uncles house on Thanksgiving!! God to have those days back!!!

When the only "Juice" in your favorite sportsman was last night's beer and whiskey.
When you were shocked that any celeb (sport or Hollywierd) was caught in some scandal.
When you could walk to the corner store, even though it was a mile away.
When you knew the name of EVERY person on your street, and knew when they had company over, and usually knew them too.
When having a two year old car was doing really well.
When people actually used the kitchen tables for meals, and your Mom would tell you to keep your elbows off the table.
When Mom would give you little gems like "You never know when you'll be in an accident, so make sure your underwear are clean".
When the tv was turned off before sitting down for a meal, unless Dad's favorite team, or Mom's favorite show/movie was on.

I remember hot summer nights, all the neighborhood kids played outside together, tag, Red Rover, Hide N Seek, catchin' fireflies or looking for 4-leafed clover and all the parents were gathered in their porches, any of one whom had permission to paddle your behind if ya got outta line....and all of us begged for one more minute when they said it was time to go in.

I was with a womam who is older than me. She showed her 29 year old daughter my picture. Her daughter's response was, "he looks like a nice older gentleman mom...."
